The Back of Beyond (part2)

The game didn't last long once the Russians got their artillery bombarding the buildings , this combined with the HMG fire caused heavy casualties in the Chinese garrisons and they fled before the Sailors charged in taking the station .

The Chinese did recieve reinforcements in the shape of a unit of Mongolian cavalry - BUT they rolled a 'blunder' on the 'command' dice and promptly quit the field - 'Oh dear' ! .

With the red flag flying over the captured station the game was won by the Bolshevik forces .

Feng Shui beats a hasty retreat and starts to plan his revenge !. The game played well and the rules being simple enough I was able to remember most of them in my head (always an advantage) . I think these will be my 'go too' set for this period in the future .

  1. Great stuff! Were you using home grown rules? I like the sound of them....any set where you can remember most of it and don't have to constantly refer to a QRS has my vote!

  2. Excellent game Tony, too bad the cavalry rolled a "blunder," but that's the way the dice rolled! I look forward to Feng Shui's revenge!

  3. Glad you enjoyed it, the pictures were certainly enjoyable.

I don't mind minor blunders, esp in a large game but I find most players make enough on their own and I've played too many games where a couple of bad rolls leading to extremely unlikely events and/or completely eliminating player input, completely spoil an afternoon or evening's entertainment. Still, to each their own.

    1. I find the cards help when playing solo and lead to events I wouldn't of considered myself .

  5. Looks and sounds as though you are really enjoying the Solo Play- good to have a set of rules that throw in moments that are previously not on the radar- good going Tony.

    1. Yes the cards are very good at creating situations which can be difficult to cope with .
