Ah...My latest shipment from England took 26 days...last year it was only 9 days...guess the pandemic is to blame- not many planes flying from country to country. Waiting for a package to arrive is the worst part of our hobby- for sure. Stay well there Tony. Cheers. KEV.
Ahhh yes, I remember the days when one mailed a letter asking for catalogue (inadequately illustrated) and waited....waited, then mailed an international moneyorder....and waited.... and waited while the oarsmen pulled their way over the waves for endless weeks.....
What a joy when Minifigs in Whiteplains NY opened up with a turn around of weeks instead of months!
Great picture Tony! It reminds me of when I was a lad and mailed away for my complete Revolutionary War Playset for $1.98. The ad was on the back of a comic book and it took FOREVER to arrive. What joy when it finally came! I still have that set today, going on sixty years now!
Brad and Tony, I think I remember seeing those adverts on the back of American science-fiction comics, 1970s, may have had an exploding bridge? But I do know it looked like two complete armies, AWI, and also both sides for the ACW. Thats just brought back some memories, lol. Michael
Yes I looked longingly at those advert , the process of sending $1.98 was beyond me and they asked for a 'zip code' which in the late 60's I knew nothing about .
Tony and Michael, They were wonderful ads and I read that they were drawn by top-notch comic book illustrators! Very hard to resist for young boys in the 60's and 70's! If you Google: "comic book toy soldier ads" and click on IMAGES you will see them all. Again, wonderful memories! I mowed a lot of lawns to earn that $1.98!
Excellent:)
