A couple of photos from the Peter Cushing Association (The Peter Cushing Association | Facebook) Facebook group , the first is Peter dressed as a pirate playing a naval/pirate game using model ships on a hexed board with a deck of cards which must be used in the game somehow or other .
The next one I think I've seen before which shows him in rather a natty jacket , cigarette in hand sorting out a rather fine collection of 54mm figures (click on photos to enlarge )
I think that first picture/game was a Waddington's (or similar) board game as the cards seem familiar.....???

DeleteYes - that's Buccaneer - I recognise the cards! We had a late 60s edition (I don't remember the palm trees, so he must have added some scenery). According to Wiki, the game dates back to 1938. My main recollections are that there was an awful lot of treasure and clutter that could get lost (so tidying up after play was not a popular activity - hence the lost kit!) and the game was pretty so-so, in fact. It looked good, but lacked excitement. Overall, we preferred knockout whist.

DeleteI remember a good Pirate board game called Winds and Gems from the 1960s. It had little plastic boats and you’d travel island to island to search for treasure.

DeleteBuccaneer - I had the game as a kid in the sixties and bought a reissued game in the eighties that I still have. I'm intending to introduce the grandchildren to it soon!
