Whilst all the 'real world' work is going on I manage to snap a couple of pictures of a patrol of the Borcesters on patrol in the borders of the Great Patio lead by the redoubtable Sergeant Kyte ..
These are odd figures that appear quit often in various guises on eBay ., they are semi flat about 50mm tall (a tall 42mm figure and a short 54mm one) and I'm not sure which collection they will fit in ?. I would say they are home-casts from an old mold.
They are not very stable (the two outdoor photos took ages to snap as they kept blowing over) , so I'm sticking them to bases . Here they are with another few figures from a previous batch which were badly painted (daubed) I've stripped and been doing some repairs on them and I'll undercoat and paint up to match the others.
A sergeant with a sword? Surely not, I think you ought to promote him.
ReplyDeleteYes I think I need to paint over the chevrons and promote him .
DeleteThere's nothing better than seeing shiny toy soldiers out in the spring sunshine! Thank you Tony, for these wonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteI was gardening and thought the time was ripe .
DeleteHere, it'll soon be the season for toy soldiers to venture forth!
ReplyDeleteHandsome heroes! I think I've seen a picture of these in one of my books on old toy soldiers. Maybe homecast but possibly German factory made. I'll have to dig through to see if I can find the photo that's in my head and see if there's any useful info.
They seem to be quite common on eBay but crop up in a multitude of pait jobs , some better than others.
DeleteLovely looking figures, they look great in their red uniforms in the sunshine, I too think that Kyte deserves a promotion to go with his sword!
ReplyDeleteYes i hadn't noticed the sergeants stripes, will over paint them i think.
DeleteHello Tony
ReplyDeleteToy soldiers where they should be in the wild! Yes they are home casts from a Schneider type metal mould as I have the mould and have used this (third figure is a kilted Highlander)
Thanks for the information, yes i have a few of the Highlander figures unpainted, that explains why the often appear for sale together.
