No not me trying to explain wargaming to the long suffering Mrs K , a rather mawkish postcard (?) of the aged parents looking at their son's toy soldiers collection - the child having grown up and enlisted in the army the World War (?), very much a period piece .
Another great find Tony! I think mawkish is the perfect description for this one!
ReplyDeleteA thing of it's time !
DeleteI don't know about mawkish. If I'd had a son, I'd have given him toy soldiers and if he'd gone off to fight in Afghanistan, I might have sat and looked at his toys and though of the past, the present and the possible futures. Great card!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very different card .
DeleteVery poignant, indeed. The sentiment is timeless.
ReplyDeleteYes the sentiment is relevant as ever.
DeleteYes a bit on the sad side but I would say they are his grandparents by the look of them - or maybe people used to age more quickly in those days?
ReplyDeleteYes they do appear a bit "long in the tooth" - my beard is the same colour - but not as long !
