Whilst getting over my operation wargaming was not a priority , however as a sign I'm getting better I have set up a Franco-Prussian game using AGM rules using the Grant Sawmill Village scenario. French nearest the camera .
The French High Command have based themselves at a rather nice establishment that has an very amusing wine list.
The Prussian Generals set up their command post at the Sawmill , not quite as commodious .
The French forces advance .
The Prussians have a good hand of cards and swiftly capture the village. To be continued ....

I know I've said it before, but this is truly the essence of old-school gaming.
ReplyDeleteThink the figures complement the simple terrain.
DeleteI cannot but agree with Rob! Beautiful, functional scenery and splendid looking troops. Inspiring because - unlike so many display wargames and photographs in the magazines - it presents a quite easily achievable wargame aesthetic that has a timeless appeal. I'm sure such an attractive battlefield will aid your recovery, which I hope will soon be complete. Best wishes Arthur
ReplyDeleteThank you , I do like 'do able' wargaming which hark back to the early years of wargaming.
DeleteEverything looks great as usual Tony! Your table and figures are beautiful! I'm so glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to game again, a wonderfully positive sign!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words , yes I'm on the mend I think.
DeleteThere's nothing like toy soldiers to help a person heal, just ask RLS about his counterpane land and toy soldiers.
ReplyDeleteYes the Land of Counterpane
DeleteMarvellous to see you back at it Tony *and* getting that wonderful French command stand on the table!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
