I've just noticed the viewing figures of my blog - I have about 100 followers and have usually got 80-90 views which I have always thought was fair seeing the number of interested people and the articles I put up . I've never publicised my blog and have always been gratified if anybody comments or clicks to view it . However this last week or so I have noticed the views have shot through the roof ! , Topping off with over a 1000 views on the post on the Prussian Uhlans , now I suspect there must be some sort of BOT looking on !? - are there certain words which trigger the interest ? or is Big Brother genuinely interested in small glossy toy soldiers ? (click on photo to enlarge)
PS just checked back over 2 years and find all the viewing figures have mysteriously grown !!??
Big Brother IS watching!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise he liked toy soldiers !
DeleteHaving the same thing happening myself, saw on another blog that it is USA referring bots or something like that, not really up on this type of thing to be honest so not too sure if that's what is happening.
ReplyDeleteYes most of my traffic seems to come from the USA .
DeleteSame on mine since the beginning of August.. I usually get 100-150 and the last one got 6000+ views!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear other people are getting it as well.
DeleteI wouldn't worry about it, let him watch. Just bathe in the reflected glow of your viewer numbers.
ReplyDeleteI thought I had suddenly become popular .
DeleteI check the stats on my blog--it isn't unusual to get hundreds of hits (or even higher) in 24 hours (often originating from various overseas places--it shifts around). The bots are out there and working: goodness knows why they crawl to our blogs. So I stopped paying attention to the aggregate number of "visits" counter as some sort of measure of traffic/interest.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting they are gleaning info from my humble site .
DeleteSomething similar has happened to me too. The big jump this month has apparently originated in the US. I wonder if it is down to AI scouring t'interweb in answer to Bob Cauvery's ChatGPT questions. It must cause quite a lot of traffic bouncing around the same sites over and over again (a bit like setting your Out of Office to reply to all and other people doing the same).
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it's not just me .
DeleteYep, same thing happening here.
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Stokes

Ooooh spooky !
DeletePosting for me isn't as robust as Prussian Uhlans, but I also have to promoting posts for a online community project.
ReplyDeleteI have recently gotten 1,000 extra views on a quick post about going off on a cruise for a week, coming back re-energized, etc... from eight years ago. I usually delete and repost with a little modification when that happens.
It's all very odd .
