I've braved the cold weather to visit our outbuilding to do some casting - the first time this year and the Gods of casting smiled on me - things went well with hardly any miscasts . I have now retired to the fireside with a mug of tea and some biscuits to clean the castings up and glue them to bases ready for spraying .
New castings! Always a promise of good things to come. And shiny new, as yet unpainted, castings are beautiful in their own way. Have fun painting them.

The foot figures are to finish off a unit already started , but the cavalry are to be a new unit - got to pick a suitable one now - always the best bit , Tony
DeleteMy casting days are long gone, and I was never very good at it, but there is some ancient magic at work - almost like alchemy. Open the mould and there is a rare jewel gleaming inside - in my case, the good jewels (complete with bayonets and hat plumes) were somewhat rarer than I would have wished. I used to make my own moulds though, and I never did quite get the hang of putting enough airways in!
ReplyDeleteNice job, sir!
I've never tried making my own moulds , you get good days and bad days casting - if bad you might as well pack up and try again later !. There is definitely something magical about casting new figures , Tony
DeleteHow cool to cast your own figures!
ReplyDeleteGood way to get rid of all those 'sample' figures you have laying around , Tony
DeleteA pleasant way to spend the day....casting figures and fireside biscuits.
ReplyDeleteA very successful day all round , Tony
DeleteThat sounds just perfect. Well done Tony. Who will be receiving the reinforcements?
ReplyDeleteNot sure yet ! , Tony
