I was very impressed by the Lancer Officer in my last post and people have been kind enough to point me in the right direction of the inspiration of this superb figure , it's from an original painting by Richard Simkins - mystery solved !
I have fond memories of the Irish Lancer. A couple of us would often drop in on the way home from Cadets on Saturdays for lunch and listen the band (Wild Rover etc) and, being in uniform like the older Militia guys, we would usually be able to get a beer despite being 5 years below the then age limit of 21.
Oh. We're not talking about THAT Irish Lancer are we?
I do like the uniform of the Royal Irish Lancers...
