Trying Out 'A Gentlemans War' (Part2)

This is the second part of the battle and here is the situation just after the demise of the Ferraro Rocherian General , with the triumphant Treborian Dragoons in the foreground and the infantry moving up onto the ridge on the left , the Ferraro Rocherain gun and infantry behind .

Command of the Ferraro Rocherain force passes to Major Velkro .

The Treborian infantry moves up in column on the other flank and start taking long range casualties .

They deploy into line and engage the enemy infantry opposite them , on the left the Treborians hold the ridge with infantry and a gun .

The Ferrero Rocherain infantry assault the wood on the Treborian left and are repulsed with heavy casualties .

Casualties mount on the other flank with casualties on both sides , but the battle turns slowly against the Ferraro Rocherain force

The stricken field , the Ferraro Rocherain infantry fall back and the artillery is  knocked out by a combination of artillery and infantry fire . A victory for the Treborian army , a close run game but things slowly turned in their favour . As the game progressed I found I was remembering the required dice rolls and only had to check the rules occasionally - the sign of a good set of rules ! . I am expanding my armies using Irregular figures bringing my existing infantry units of 20 figures into 2 units of 12 and adding some figures for 'cameo' appearances .

  2. Like your trees- they fit in well for your 40mm- yes, the 40mm IRREGULAR figures to bolster your Units will be fun to paint up to get units of 12 figures. 40mm is a great size for Gaming.

  3. Great account of a little-known piece of history. I think I have some ancestors from one of those principalities...
