The Highlanders took longer to paint than the Russians , but were a bit more entertaining .
I had to convert a Standard Bearer as I've run out of them . The figures are of course Strelets .
Luckily you see very little tartan on the figures because of the sporrans and various bits of equipment and I just suggested the dicing on the socks and bonnets . Busy with the Turkish irregular cavalry at the moment .
Not sure I agree that painting highlanders is entertaining. I find them painful and something to avoid! I still have a number of 25mm Foundry Crimean War Highlanders awaiting the brush. They have had a long wait.

ReplyDeleteThe thing with tartans and the like is that if you're more than 10 feet away from the actual thing, you can see all the detail of patterns and setts, just an impression. Your's look just right.
Strelet vary a lot their infantry being better than their cavalry. At 'wargaming distance' you can get away with a lot
