Been meaning to cast up some command figures for my 40mm SYW-ish project and taking advantage of the absence of my wife and dog I brought my melting pot into the kitchen and started casting . The rather battered old saucepan is half full of sand to so catch any metal spillage when pouring into the mould.
The fruits of the casting , an Officer, Trumpeter and a figure for a NCO . I even managed to get a figure from the antiquated metal mould of a 54mm semi flat figure (ACW ?) which will be converted into a General for my Army 'Pantalon Rouge' . Rather pleased with my afternoons work and all tidied away before the Memsahib returned .
Excellent job of casting Tony! And congratulations on getting away with it! I'll never tell!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very productive afternoon , it was more te fact she took the dog out that helped - dog and hot metal don't mix !
DeleteA big advantage to home casting exemplified: it's much harder to slip the arrival of a parcel of figs in the mail past the wife unobserved. Well done, in any case!
ReplyDeleteShe is quietly impressed with the creativity of home casting , but wary of the process.
DeleteGood work and must admit the 54mm cavalryman is a very interesting one, looking forward to seeing him all painted up.
ReplyDeleteYes I got him in a job lot of old molds several years ago , not easy as the rubber moilds to cast from , but a useful and interesting figure.
DeleteThat was a bit daring - I reckon you'll catch it when the Memsahib returns.
ReplyDeleteShes okay - as long as I clean up afterwards !
DeleteMum's the word.
ReplyDeletePS could that mounted chap be a Mountie (going by the shape of the crown)? Or US officer c,SAW?
American I would say .
