These are a unit of cyclists from Cycle Volunteer Reserve (C.V.R.) who are to join 'Red Army'. It has taken me about five years to collect the suitable figures and give them a new paint job . You don't see many for sale on EBay so I have had to pick figures up when I've seen them , I'm not sure who they are made by - I suspect at least a couple of manufactures as there are different figure styles . They will provide an essential scouting role for the 'Red Army'
These are great fun - lovely job! Lack of standard bike suggests these have been requisitioned - the lad with the BMX should watch himself.
ReplyDeleteYes there a couple of different bikes
Delete...what I meant was a standard STYLE of bike...
ReplyDeleteNo 'Chopper' sadly
DeleteExcellent unit Tony! They look great, your paint job is just right! They will work well in your games!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting them on the tabletop.
DeleteTony, some superb work here, very well done indeed! This really is a rarely seen and interesting table unit in 54mm.

Yes they look very quaint .
DeleteGreat set of cyclists Tony
ReplyDeleteGlad to have enough now for a viable unit under AGW rules.
DeleteCharming fellows, and innovative, too. I recall reading some military treatises circa the 1890s that were quite excited about the potential use of bicycles, which were a new thing then.
ReplyDeleteYes they where quite the 'thing' .
DeleteYou have assembled and painted up some great looking Bicycle Troops Tony- they'l do well for your battles. Cheers. kEV.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm pleased with them - just took longer than I expected .
