Red Army took delivery today of a new 'Quick Fire Machine Gun' (care of Ebay) , here being inspected by members of the General Staff , they are crewed by a couple of Sailors from the Naval Brigade .
I got the idea for this model from MGB from Wargaming with 54mm Toy Soldiers: NEW ARTILLERY PIECE and NEW ARTILLERY CREW , it is a novelty pencil sharpener and needs a coat of paint and a couple of more crewmen before service on the tabletop .
Duel purpose weapon; I like that!
ReplyDeleteYes I will keep the pencil sharpener operational .
DeleteWhat a cracking piece! Not many wargaming models are that useful.
ReplyDeleteThe barrel being mounted so high makes it suitable for defending a fort. It could almost be described as en barbette.
And even more useful, it could grind down the ends of the posts to a point for constructing the palisade surrounding the fort, itself.
DeleteA dual purpose weapon !
DeleteYes I was suprised how good it was .
DeleteLooks very suitable. I came across quite a few similar items down in Pennsylvania early this century but alas, while I was gaming in 54, they were "model" rather than "toy" soldiers and passed them all up.
ReplyDeleteYes I know what you mean , this has a toy feeling to it .
DeleteNice photos of your new artillery- like your 54s.
ReplyDeleteThe 54's are slowly expanding .
DeleteExcellent repurposing!
ReplyDeleteYes it was a good find .
DeleteMy Dad had one of these as a novelty and 'bit of fun' amongst his collection of figurines and such. I'd not thought of actually turning it into a wargaming piece. That is inspired!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James

DeleteGreat use of the sharpener Tony
