Not much wargame pressy wise for Christmas , this rather nice War of the Roses book from Helion which on a brief scrutiny could prove controversial with established thinking and 4 character figures from the 'Willie' range from Tradition , not badly priced but the postage from Sweden although efficient is a bit eye watering.
There are 2 mounted Cavalry Officers for the French and Prussians and these rather nice French Cavalry Vivandieres - I wasn't aware of the French Cavalry having these but they will paint up nicely in there bright uniform . All the 'Willie' figures are a bit bigger than the Irregular I use for the rank and file but once on the tabletop I don't think it will be too noticeable
In between all the 'Christmassy' things I have managed to glue up. base and undercoat my last two Franco Prussian Cavalry Regiments , both Dragoons - one per side , so lots of painting to do in the New Year .
.

That book looks like a great read Tony! I can't wait to see your new figures painted up, especially the Vivandiere! I have never seen one mounted before.
ReplyDeleteI must admit I hadn't heard of them either.
DeleteI read the review that Trebian did on his blog, "Wargaming for Grown-ups" and controversial it appears to be, will certainly shake things up a bit. Nice figures, should look the business when painted and on the table.
ReplyDeleteYes I'm looking forward to reading it.
DeleteModest, maybe, but a nice bit of toy soldier goodness always goes well with Christmas.
ReplyDeleteIt does, pleased with my pressys
DeleteThe Helion book is very good. Well worth the read.
ReplyDeleteNext on the reading list .
DeleteYou did well - quality is more important than quantity. I see Graham/Trebian gave the book a positivie write-up on his blog, and those Willie figures will doubtless look great when painted up!
ReplyDeleteThe books looks very interesting
