I had been using a deck of event cards for TSATF and the Afghans drew this card that meant the right hand unit retreated off the table, which rather snookered the Afghan war effort !
All that was left to do was the British to order a general advance and with no reinforcement in sight the Afghans called it a day and quit the field ! . A rather odd game but enjoyable none the less and reminds me of the reason I still like these old rules.

Back home in time for tea and medals! Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteYes , very much so !
DeleteYou never know how things will turn out Tony! That's why we play the games and enjoy surprise endings like this one!
ReplyDeleteA good game even with the unexpected ending.
DeleteThe Afghans had no luck there that's for sure but any game is a good game and you just never know how things are going to turn out.
ReplyDeleteThe Afghans were very unlucky this time.
DeleteNice looking game, though. I've always been very leery of those TSATF event cards given how drastic some of them are (like the one drawn in your game, where a unit walks off the table).
ReplyDeleteYes a lot of them are designed for larger games I think , but I find they spice up a solo game with the unexpected.
DeleteNothing like a little surprise in a solo game!
ReplyDeleteYes keeps us on our toes .
